So I got a part time job at the local CVS. It may have been my previous training load or working somewhere that a lot of people with the flu and other ailments go or both, but I felt crappy for a few weeks, so in January decided to take a break from coffee and alcohol, and got the flu as a special reward.
I was not riding much, but Tammy and I would go on walks and hikes. I took a wrong turn on what was supposed to be an easier hike and we started up a relatively tough climb before we decided to go back. Even though she was on all fours at one point scampering one of the steeper rocky parts, this showed us that she might be ready for more than the flat trails. We progressed to harder and harder trails, trying to not do too much too soon and get easier walks and rides in between. We have done Pink Beds, North Slope, Big Rock, Andrew Cove, most of the Dupont waterfalls, Cat Gap (the hardest) and finally back to the trail that started us down this path, Sycamore Cove, (no scampering this time).
She was hiking so well, it dawned on me that if we were campground hosts at Davidson river all this hiking would be just out the door. The website looked promising, but when I called, that was filled, but positions were open at Cascade Lake. We checked it out and decided to give it a go. It was taking a while and in the mean time AutoZone called me in for an interview. It ended up being a decision between being apart most of the day or together. We picked together.
Here are some photos, from some of our adventures, many of which may be on Facebook but I wanted to group them the together here;
